Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent in a related field
- Profound interdisciplinary knowledge of the energy transition
- Expertise in optimization methods and energy system modeling
- Experience in energy system modeling and optimization
- Familiarity with optimization methods, such as Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP)
- Strong track record of relevant publications
- Excellent English skills; proficiency in at least one Swiss national language (German, French, Italian, or Romansh) is preferred
- Experience in or with the defense sector and programming experience in Python and Pyomo is a plus
- Preference for applicants based in Switzerland, or those holding Swiss, EU, or EFTA citizenship
Job Description
- Build a sector-coupled energy system model in collaboration with armasuisse and site representatives.
- Integrate fuel synthesis technologies and supply chains into the energy system model.
- Assess the energy system based on metrics such as cost, CO2 emissions, self-sufficiency, and autonomy.
- Coordinate developments with the project manager.
- Present results internally and externally.
