Postdoctoral Associate | Tewhey Lab: The Tewhey Lab at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to advance our understanding of the genetic mechanisms underlying human complex traits and the impact of genetic variation on gene regulatory function. This role involves utilizing novel high-throughput genetic techniques to characterize non-coding regions of the genome, focusing on immune, metabolic, and aging-related phenotypes.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Education: M.D. or Ph.D. in biology, engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or related fields.
- Experience:
- Experimental Focus: Strong publication record and knowledge of scientific computing software (R) and scripting languages (bash/perl/python).
- Computational Focus: Experience in human genetics and managing large genomic datasets is preferred; however, prior training in biological sciences is not necessary.
- Skills: A passion for solving challenges in human health and a strong desire to learn.
Job Description
The Postdoctoral Associate will:
- Develop and apply high-throughput genetic techniques (e.g., MPRA and CRISPR-based screens).
- Characterize non-coding regions of the genome.
- Construct computational models to predict cis-regulatory element activity across various cell types and states.
- Collaborate on projects exploring genetic variation impacts on cis-regulatory elements using cellular and in vivo models.
- Engage with opportunities to apply machine learning for modeling regulatory activity or developing synthetic gene regulatory elements for biomedical purposes.
