Research Area

This research focuses on developing generative AI models for enhancing medical imagery, particularly bridging the gap between advanced imaging techniques and clinical application. This involves creating anatomically accurate 3D/4D models from simple measurements.

Location

The primary workplace will be at the VUB Main Campus in Etterbeek, with additional collaboration at the VUB Health Campus in Jette.

Eligibility/Qualification

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics & Informatics Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Skills:
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Knowledge of medical image processing and machine learning techniques
  • Experience with medical imaging packages (e.g., SimpleITK, ITK)
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Description

The selected PhD student will work under the supervision of Prof. Jef Vandemeulebroucke. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and validating generative models for medical images.
  • Collaborating with clinical and imaging partners for real-world applicability.
  • Contributing to departmental activities, including supervising practical classes and representing VUB at events.
