Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in Benthic Ecology, Marine Biology, or a related natural science discipline; or a Master’s degree with experience in relevant tasks.
  • Experience in North Sea infauna and epifauna taxonomy.
  • Strong background in multivariate statistical analyses (e.g., R or similar software).
  • Proven experience in GIS-based spatial analyses and species distribution modelling.
  • Record of peer-reviewed scientific publications.
  • Experience in ship-based sampling campaigns.
  • Strong independent and collaborative working skills.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Description

As part of the CONMAR-Habitat project within the Deutsche Allianz Meeresforschung, the research will involve:

  • Active participation in research cruises in the North and Baltic Sea.
  • Taxonomic identification and quantitative analysis of marine benthic communities.
  • Multivariate statistical analysis of community and environmental datasets.
  • Spatial analysis using GIS and implementation of species distribution models.
  • Preparation of project reports and contributions to interdisciplinary collaboration.
