Research Area
The MYBstery project focuses on the transcriptional and post-translational mechanisms regulating suberin deposition in specialized root cells, which are crucial for plant resilience against environmental stress, such as salinity.
Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD degree in plant biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field.
- Strong bioinformatics skills, particularly in transcriptomic analyses and network inference.
- Expertise in molecular biology and/or biochemistry, preferably with plants.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
- Well-developed organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Description
The successful candidate will:
- Generate bulk and single-cell transcriptomics data from chickpea roots.
- Integrate various transcriptomics datasets to infer spatiotemporal gene regulatory networks of suberin deposition.
- Conduct dual-luciferase-based trans-activation assays to test network interactions.
- Develop the TurboCas methodology for plant applications.
- Collaborate closely with the associated PhD student at the University of Freiburg and participate in joint experiments.
- Present and write research findings for scientific dissemination.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
- A letter of motivation (max 1 page).
- A CV (max 2 pages), including the names and email addresses of at least three references.
- A copy of the PhD certificate or a letter from the university stating the defense date.
