Research Area:

  • Stochastic models in biology and biochemistry
  • Genealogical processes under various evolutionary forces (mutation, selection, recombination)
  • Probability distributions of combinatorial structures relevant for biological macromolecules (e.g., RNA secondary structures)

Location:

Bielefeld University, Faculty of Technology, Bielefeld, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed scientific university degree (Master or equivalent) in mathematics, biomathematics, or mathematical statistical physics
  • PhD in mathematics, biomathematics, or mathematical statistical physics
  • Solid knowledge in probability theory
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Independent, self-reliant, and committed way of working
  • Ability to work in a team

Job Description:

  • Conduct research on stochastic models in biology and biochemistry (100%, decreasing to 70% from January 1, 2027)
  • Teach (4 LVS, 25%)
  • Participate in organisational and administrative tasks of the research group (5%)
  • The position offers an opportunity for scientific qualification and further academic development.
