Research Area

This project explores the development of robust and water-resistant photonic pigments using modified cellulose nanocrystals. It focuses on controlling self-assembly behaviors, stabilizing structures through photo-crosslinking, and incorporating nanomaterials to enhance optical properties.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A completed or expected MSc degree by 1st September 2026 in:
  • Physical Chemistry
  • Nanotechnology
  • Materials Science
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Chemistry
  • Molecular Life Sciences
  • Strong interest in colloidal systems and hands-on experience with nanomaterials synthesis and characterization is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English at the C1 level is required.

Job Description

As a PhD candidate, you will:

  • Modify cellulose nanocrystals to study their stability and optical properties.
  • Investigate spherical photonic material formation through emulsion or microfluidic methods.
  • Synthesize and incorporate metallic or luminescent nanoparticles into materials.
  • Note: Supervising undergraduate and master’s students and contributing to teaching is part of the role.
