Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in analytical chemistry, microfluidics, chemical engineering, robotics, biomedical engineering, or a similar field.
- Experience in microfluidics, specifically segmented slug flow.
- Proficiency in programming, preferably in Python and LabView.
- Interest in metabolomics, programming, and NMR.
- Good to excellent proficiency in English.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Investigate the slug stability of organic solvent slugs (e.g., acetone, acetonitrile, chloroform) in different push solvents for detecting apolar metabolites using segmented flow NMR.
- Develop novel NMR flow-cells and enhance the automation control of a liquid handling robotic platform, including pump control, slug detection, and feedback loops.
- Demonstrate the improved system’s potential through use cases in biotech and human health applications.
This research will be conducted in collaboration with the Analytical Sciences department at dsm-firmenich, where segmented flow high-throughput NMR systems are installed.
