Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or related fields.
  • Strong skills in laboratory techniques pertinent to molecular/cell biology, biophysics, and biochemistry.
  • Prior experience in structural biology and light microscopy is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Fluency in English (C1 level as per CEFR) is required, ideally supported by a certification.

Job Description

As a PhD student within the Vercellino group, your tasks include:

  • Expression and purification of mitochondrial membrane protein complexes in bacterial and eukaryotic (yeast and mammalian) cell systems.
  • Biochemical and biophysical characterization of the complexes.
  • Cryo-EM sample preparation, data collection, and structural determination.
