Research Areas

Applicants may propose their own postdoctoral research project aligned with one or more of the programme’s key areas:

  • Physics of Waves and Matter (6 fellowships)
  • Physics of the Two Infinites (up to 9 fellowships, including theory and experimental physics)
  • Astrophysics (up to 4 fellowships)
  • Synchrotron Research at SOLEIL (2 fellowships)
  • Interdisciplinary Nanoscience (2 fellowships)
  • Metrology at LNE (1 fellowship)

Eligibility / Qualification

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Hold a doctoral degree (PhD), or have successfully defended their thesis before the application deadline.
  • Have published research in an international peer-reviewed journal.
  • Not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months during the 3 years preceding the application deadline.
  • Propose an independent postdoctoral research project aligned with the programme’s research themes.
  • Career interruptions due to parental leave or prolonged illness will be taken into consideration.

Fellowship Description

Selected STAR φ Fellows will:

  • Conduct independent, high-impact research in physics.
  • Work within one of the 40 participating laboratories of the Physics Graduate School at Université Paris-Saclay.
  • Access state-of-the-art experimental facilities and major research infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with a community of over 3,000 researchers, faculty members, engineers, and technical staff.
  • Engage in national, European, and international research collaborations.
  • Contribute to research addressing challenges in energy, health, environment, space, and advanced technologies.
