Research Areas
Applicants may propose their own postdoctoral research project aligned with one or more of the programme’s key areas:
- Physics of Waves and Matter (6 fellowships)
- Physics of the Two Infinites (up to 9 fellowships, including theory and experimental physics)
- Astrophysics (up to 4 fellowships)
- Synchrotron Research at SOLEIL (2 fellowships)
- Interdisciplinary Nanoscience (2 fellowships)
- Metrology at LNE (1 fellowship)
Eligibility / Qualification
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold a doctoral degree (PhD), or have successfully defended their thesis before the application deadline.
- Have published research in an international peer-reviewed journal.
- Not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months during the 3 years preceding the application deadline.
- Propose an independent postdoctoral research project aligned with the programme’s research themes.
- Career interruptions due to parental leave or prolonged illness will be taken into consideration.
Fellowship Description
Selected STAR φ Fellows will:
- Conduct independent, high-impact research in physics.
- Work within one of the 40 participating laboratories of the Physics Graduate School at Université Paris-Saclay.
- Access state-of-the-art experimental facilities and major research infrastructures.
- Collaborate with a community of over 3,000 researchers, faculty members, engineers, and technical staff.
- Engage in national, European, and international research collaborations.
- Contribute to research addressing challenges in energy, health, environment, space, and advanced technologies.
