Summary
The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) is offering fully funded PhD scholarships through the SGSP-IWRM programme. This initiative aims to develop the next generation of African researchers and leaders in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). Successful candidates will study at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and participate in an international scientific mobility scheme at the International Centre for Water Resources and Global Change (ICWRGC) in Koblenz, Germany.

Eligibility and Qualifications
- Academic: Must hold a relevant Master’s degree or an NQF Level 9 qualification.
- Research: Must provide evidence of supervised research experience at the Master’s level.
- Status: Open to citizens or permanent residents of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, or Zambia.
- Process: Selection may include an interview; admission is subject to NUST approval and supervisor availability.
Job Description
Successful PhD candidates will:
- Conduct innovative and high-impact research addressing regional water challenges.
- Join an elite regional cohort of 15 doctoral candidates.
- Collaborate with researchers across the five SASSCAL member countries.
- Undertake a compulsory minimum of three months of scientific mobility at the ICWRGC in Germany.
- Contribute to scientific capacity building in climate change, water management, and sustainable development.
