Eligibility & Qualification
- Nationality: Applicants must be nationals of an ICGEB Member State. Candidates may not apply for fellowships to be undertaken in their home country, unless they have been working abroad for at least the last 3 years at the time of application.
- Academic Qualification: Must hold a recent PhD in Life Sciences or have at least 3 years of equivalent research experience.
- Age Limit: Preference is given to candidates below the age of 35.
- Language Proficiency: English certificate (TOEFL, Cambridge, or equivalent) is required unless English was the medium of instruction at your university (which must be officially certified by the university).
Job Description & Benefits
Selected candidates will execute cutting-edge, independent research projects under the mentorship of an ICGEB Principal Investigator.
- Duration: 2 years (with the possibility of a 1-year extension).
- Financial & Research Support:
- All research costs are fully covered by the host lab’s budget.
- Support for participating in scientific meetings and courses is generally provided by the Group Leader / PI.
- Travel & Visa: Includes provision for travel expenses from the participant’s home country to the host ICGEB lab at the start, and return travel upon completion. Visa/permit application and renewal costs are reimbursed.
- Healthcare: Comprehensive medical health insurance coverage is provided.

How to Apply
ICGEB has introduced a new two-stage application procedure utilizing the online ICGEB Service Gateway. Only one application per candidate is permitted.
Stage 1: Fellowship Expression of Interest (1 July – 14 August 2026)
Candidates select their desired ICGEB laboratory and prospective supervisor, then complete the online form with basic details. You must refer to the Expression of Interest – Online Submission Guidelines to complete this phase.
Stage 2: Fellowship Full Application (16 September – 30 September 2026)
If selected by your prospective supervisor, you will receive a notification to proceed with the full submission following the Fellowships Application – Online Submission of Full Application Guidelines.
