Eligibility/Qualification
Applicants must have:
- A Master’s degree (120 credits) or Master’s degree (60 credits) in Civil Engineering with specialization in Hydrogeology.
- Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree obtained outside Sweden are also eligible.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience in numerical modelling and data analysis using tools such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hydrogeological field investigations.
- Knowledge of decision-support methodologies.
- Good written and spoken Swedish language skills.
Job Description
The selected doctoral student will:
- Conduct research on AI-driven groundwater modelling and decision-support systems.
- Study the information needs of groundwater managers in environmental and drinking water management.
- Integrate geospatial, operational, and numerical modelling data using AI and statistical learning techniques.
- Develop innovative decision-support tools for sustainable groundwater management.
- Complete advanced doctoral coursework in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- Publish scientific papers and prepare a doctoral thesis.
- Collaborate with industrial partners and stakeholders.
- Teach undergraduate courses or perform equivalent academic duties for up to 20% of working time.
Salary
- Starting Salary: SEK 35,725 per month (effective from May 1, 2026).
- Fully funded PhD position.
- Initial appointment for 4 years, extendable to 5 years with teaching responsibilities.
