Summary: The Department of Plankton and Microbial Ecology in the MIBI group (HP Grossart) of the IGB at Lake Stechlin is seeking a Postdoc for a project using metagenomics to study microbial colonization and antibiotic gene transmission between prokaryotes and microeukaryotes following aquatic pollution (like microplastics). This is part of the multidisciplinary EU–India project HARMONY.

Job Description (Your Tasks)
- Analyze planktonic and benthic microorganisms from lab experiments using molecular and microbiological tools.
- Conduct field sampling in India.
- Perform bioinformatic and statistical analyses, including genome annotation.
- Relate environmental variables to microbial dynamics.
- Build pipelines for functional OMICS analyses.
- Contribute to scientific activities, publications, management, and communication for the Harmony project.
Eligibility/Qualification (Your Profile)
Mandatory:
- PhD degree in biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or a similar field.
- Excellent knowledge in molecular biology, particularly DNA metagenomics and metatranscriptomics.
- Knowledge of bioinformatics and statistical tools.
- Experience in data analysis and scientific publication.
- Ability to work in a team, with good English communication and management skills.
Advantageous:
- Experience in programming and network analyses.
- Driver’s license.
