Summary: The Department of Plankton and Microbial Ecology in the MIBI group (HP Grossart) of the IGB at Lake Stechlin is seeking a Postdoc for a project using metagenomics to study microbial colonization and antibiotic gene transmission between prokaryotes and microeukaryotes following aquatic pollution (like microplastics). Job Description (Your Tasks)
- Analyze planktonic and benthic microorganisms from lab experiments using molecular and microbiological tools.
- Conduct field sampling in India.
- Perform bioinformatic and statistical analyses, including genome annotation.
- Relate environmental variables to microbial dynamics.
- Build pipelines for functional OMICS analyses.
- Contribute to scientific activities, publications, management, and communication for the Harmony project.
Eligibility/Qualification (Your Profile)
Mandatory:
- PhD degree in biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or a similar field.
- Excellent knowledge in molecular biology, particularly DNA metagenomics and metatranscriptomics.
- Knowledge of bioinformatics and statistical tools.
- Experience in data analysis and scientific publication.
- Ability to work in a team, with good English communication and management skills.
Advantageous:
- Experience in programming and network analyses.
- Driver’s license.
