Eligibility/Qualification
Candidates should have:
- A completed Master’s degree or diploma degree in:
- Analytical Chemistry
- Pharmacy
- Biotechnology
- or related fields relevant to metabolomics
- Proven experience in:
- Metabolomics research
- Mass spectrometry
- Analytical chemistry methodologies
- Good written and spoken English communication skills (B2 level)
Desirable Skills:
- Hands-on experience with chemical analysis using mass spectrometry
- Programming experience, especially in R or Python
- Experience with:
- Large-scale data analysis
- Numerical data processing
- Multivariate modelling
- Confounding factor analysis
- Strong documentation and scientific record-keeping skills following FAIR data principles
Job Description
The selected candidate will work at the Center for Biological Sciences with a focus on metabolomics research. The major responsibilities include:
- Conducting independent laboratory-based research as part of a PhD thesis/dissertation
- Developing robust and reproducible metabolomics analytical and bioinformatics pipelines
- Performing mass spectrometry-based chemical analyses of biological cohorts
- Supporting the development of a digital metabolomics biobank repository
- Managing, storing, and enabling reuse of metabolomics data according to FAIR standards
- Participating in research projects related to veterinary metabolomics and molecular profiling
- Contributing to English-language university teaching activities in omics-related courses
- Assisting with organizational and administrative research tasks
- Participating in scientific collaborations and occasional travel related to the position
Salary
- Minimum salary: EUR 3,776.10 gross/month (based on full-time employment of 40 hours/week)
- Position is governed by the Austrian university collective bargaining agreement.
- Employment is offered at 30 hours/week.
