Eligibility/Qualification
- Education: PhD in a relevant science field (e.g., plant biology, genomics, phenomics).
- Knowledge: Theoretical background in phenomics and/or genomics.
- Experience: Experienced with data analysis tasks, ideally in the field of image analysis.
- Technical Skills: Affinity for command-line-based bioinformatic data analysis.
- Soft Skills: Passionate about biology and plant diversity; curious, self-motivated, and organized; a strong team player with initiative; solid oral and written English skills.
Job Description
Objectives:
Use state-of-the-art “digital twin” resources to explore the possibilities of seed optical and multispectral imaging in active genebank management. The goal is to leverage the latest developments in seed phenomics and big data analysis in a genebank setting to improve collection management (viability, seed health, and genotype sorting) and open doors to novel user access.
Key Tasks:
- Manage field trials and associated phenotypic data collection.
- Lead the development of novel high-throughput phenotyping approaches for seeds.
- Independently analyze large datasets from diverse sources.
- Generate new biological insights in the field of barley genetics.
- Develop and publish your own research ideas.
