Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates should have:

  • A Master’s degree in:
    • Structural Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Materials Engineering
    • or a closely related field
  • Strong interest in structural engineering and advanced manufacturing.
  • Candidates with relevant research experience in WAAM, metal additive manufacturing, structural testing, sensing, or simulation may be particularly suitable.

Job Description / Research Responsibilities

The selected PhD candidate will work on research involving:

  • Experimental testing of 3D-printed metallic structures.
  • Development and application of in-process sensing techniques.
  • Computational modelling and simulation of printed structural components.
  • Performance prediction of large-scale metallic structures.
  • Process optimisation for complex structural components.
  • Integration of experimental data, sensing, and simulation to improve manufacturing and structural performance.
