Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Academic Degree: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Core Background: Strong foundational knowledge in mathematical analysis, dynamical systems, and differential equations.
  • Language Requirements: High proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Research Skills: Ability to conduct theoretical and rigorous analytical research independently and collaborate in an international research team.

Scholarship & Position Description

  • Dual Doctoral Degrees: Leads to paired PhD diplomas issued by both Leiden University and Lund University.
  • Salary & Benefits:
    • Netherlands (Years 1 & 4): €3,059 – €3,881 gross per month under the Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) of Dutch Universities, including pension scheme, paid parental leave, and holiday/end-of-year allowances.
    • Sweden (Years 2 & 3): SEK 35,300 – SEK 38,800 gross per month under Lund University employment standards.
  • Travel & Training: Travel support is provided to participate in international conferences, workshops, and inter-university seminars.
  • Research Setting: Embedded in Leiden’s Analysis and Dynamical Systems Group and Lund’s Partial Differential Equations Group.
