  • PhD in Chemistry.
  • Extensive research experience in polymer synthesis.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written).

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Synthesizing new polymers with disulfide bonds incorporated into the polymer backbone, specifically designed for controlled drug delivery in the colon.
  • Utilizing both chain and step polymerization techniques.
  • Characterizing the synthesized polymers at the molecular level.
  • Assessing the relevant material properties of the drug coating.
  • This project is a collaboration between the division of Polymer Chemistry and Materials (Prof. Mario Smet) and the division of Drug Delivery and Deposition (Prof. Guy Van den Mooter), both at KU Leuven. The synthetic and molecular characterization work will be conducted in the Chemistry Department, while the evaluation of material properties will take place in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences.
