Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Position: A 3-year fixed-term full-time postdoctoral opportunity is available in the newly established Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics (ACE). The position offers the chance to work within Professor Jose Polo’s group, focusing on the application and development of computational methods for analyzing single-cell, spatial Omics, and epigenomics data. The research will be conducted in collaboration with ACE, which is dedicated to epigenetic research and cell fate, including studies in development, reprogramming, and cancer.

Eligibility/Qualification:

Level A:

  • Completion of a PhD in biology, computational biology, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, biostatistics, statistics, or bioinformatics, or equivalent qualifications or research experience.
  • Programming experience with bash and R and/or Python scripting languages.
  • Experience in analyzing and integrating single-cell NextGen sequencing data.
  • Experience in analyzing and integrating bulk RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq/CUT&Tag-seq, and DNA genome-wide methylation datasets.
  • Evidence of strong contribution to research in the relevant field of study.

Level B (additional qualifications):

  • Strong track record of high-quality publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Techniques for reproducible research and version control, including experience generating knitr reports, GitHub repositories, and R package development.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, including leading research in cancer systems and/or developmental biology using high-throughput genomics.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of successful proposal submissions to external funding bodies.
  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise students.

The Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Position involves:

  • Applying and developing computational methods for the analysis of single-cell, spatial Omics, and epigenomics data.

  • Analyzing and integrating various types of genomic datasets, including single-cell NextGen sequencing, bulk RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq/CUT&Tag-seq, and DNA methylation.

  • Conducting independent research and potentially leading research projects in cancer systems and/or developmental biology using high-throughput genomics.
