Research Fellow – School of Chemistry: The University of Birmingham, School of Chemistry, is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow for a full-time, fixed-term contract until September 2025. The successful candidate will work on a prestigious ERC Starting Grant focused on understanding atomic-level mechanisms in perovskite optoelectronics. The research aims to contribute to the development of more efficient energy materials. Research Area: Inorganic synthesis, materials chemistry, physical chemistry (solid-state NMR)

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD (or close to completion) in an area related to the project: inorganic synthesis, materials chemistry, physical chemistry (solid-state NMR)
  • High level of analytical capability
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly
  • Fluency in relevant models, techniques, or methods
  • Understanding of broader management/administration processes
  • Knowledge of Equality Act 2010 and commitment to ensuring equal treatment for all individuals

Job Description: The selected Research Fellow will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Developing research objectives and proposals
  • Writing bids for research funding
  • Analyzing and interpreting research findings
  • Disseminating research outputs through publications and seminars
  • Supervising students and providing guidance to PhD students
  • Contributing to the development of new models and techniques
  • Undertaking research-related management/administration tasks
  • Contributing to research-related activities and enterprise/business development
  • Collecting research data and presenting research outputs
  • Handling problems that may affect research objectives and deadlines
  • Promoting equality and fostering an inclusive working culture
