Postdoctoral Scholar at Florida International University: Dr. Stephen Secules is inviting applications for a full-time postdoctoral scholar position focused on equity in engineering education. The postdoc will join the Equity Research Group at Florida International University to work on a new NSF-funded grant project on racial equity in engineering education. The position is expected to be available from November 2023 through July 2025, subject to currently available funding. The project involves in situ observations at local South Florida universities with different demographic and institutional characteristics.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in STEM Education (e.g., Engineering Education, Computing Education), Education (e.g., Learning Sciences), a Social Science (e.g., Anthropology), or related field.
- Experience in qualitative education research.
- Interest and ability to engage in critical dialogue with stakeholders in engineering education, including engineering faculty, early career researchers, project team members, and the broader community.
- Strong project management abilities.
- Willingness to relocate to South Florida.
Job Description: The postdoctoral scholar will play a central role in the new grant project, including data collection, analysis, publication, and educational event planning. Data collection will involve observations in engineering classrooms and conducting one-on-one interviews and group engagements with faculty. Educational events will include a symposium on racial equity, training for early career researchers on action-oriented research, and a theatre-based professional development for faculty. The position offers significant opportunities to co-author publications based on a rich dataset regarding equity in engineering classrooms and mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers in the Equity Research Group.
