Three PhD Positions in AI for the Life Sciences (0.8 – 1.0 FTE)
Are you ready for a challenge? Utrecht University’s AI Technology for Life group is offering three PhD positions that focus on utilizing AI technology to gain insights into complex living systems. The available positions are:
- PhD in AI Technology for Plant-Microbiome Interactions: Develop methodologies to understand interactions between plant root systems and their associated microbiomes. Investigate fundamental principles of complex microbial community assembly on plant roots to enhance crop growth and stress resilience.
- PhD in Explainable AI for Multi-Modal Life Science Data: Develop explainable AI methods for interpreting Life Science data. Create interpretable models that combine imaging and tabular/multi-omics information, and apply these methodologies to medical and/or plant-related data.
- PhD in Explainable AI in a Multi-Task Setting: Develop AI techniques for explaining multi-task prediction models, particularly in the biomedical domain. Focus on neurodegenerative diseases and/or oncology, using protein sequences, functions, structures, and multi-omics data.
You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams from the Department of Information and Computing Sciences and the Department of Biology to bridge the gap between Life Sciences and AI.
