Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry: The Molecules Initiative for Neglected Diseases Consortium (MINDI) is offering a post-doctoral fellowship opportunity at the University of São Paulo’s São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC-USP) in Brazil. This fellowship is funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and is part of the FAPESP/MMV/DNDi/UNICAMP/USP consortium to discover new drugs for the treatment of tropical parasitic diseases. Led by researchers at USP and the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), MINDI is jointly funded by FAPESP and two nonprofit organizations, the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) and the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV).

Research Area: Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery (Pharmacokinetics/ADME)

Location: Avenida João Dagnone, 1100 (IFSC-USP, Área 2), São Carlos, Brazil

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. degree obtained within the last 7 years in Brazil or abroad.
  • Experience in pharmacokinetic/ADME assays and/or phenotypic assays.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.

Job Description:

Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery

The selected post-doctoral fellow will collaborate with DNDi, focusing on the discovery of new treatments for neglected tropical diseases. Responsibilities include conducting in vitro pharmacokinetic/ADME studies (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion), which encompass solubility, permeability, distribution coefficient, and metabolic stability, as well as performing phenotypic assays on molecules provided by DNDi.

Salary: The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral Scholarship worth BRL 9,047.40 per month, along with a research contingency fund equivalent to 10% of the annual scholarship value for project-related activities. If the selected candidate needs to relocate to São Carlos, they can request an Installation Grant, subject to FAPESP approval. The scholarship starts immediately and ends on December 31, 2024, and is not renewable.
