Postdoctoral Positions in Spatial Proteomics: The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in the Helmholtz Association is inviting applications for two fully funded postdoctoral positions in the Spatial Proteomics research group, led by Dr. Fabian Coscia. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated excellent achievements in the field of research.
  • Solid experimental or computational background.
  • Strong publication record as a primary author.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong interest in spatial multi-omics workflows for profiling health and disease states.
  • Deep knowledge in MS-based proteomics, multiplex immunofluorescence microscopy, image data analysis, or multi-omics data integration is preferred.
  • Ability to write a 1-page project proposal demonstrating intrinsic motivation and the envisioned contributions of spatial proteomics to precision medicine.

Job Description: The Coscia lab is focused on translational research projects that aim to develop and apply innovative spatial proteomics methods for disease phenotyping. The research involves a combination of ultra-sensitive (single-cell) mass spectrometry-based proteomics, multiplex imaging, and machine learning-driven data analysis. The lab has recently co-developed Deep Visual Proteomics, an approach that combines microscopic cell phenotyping with global and quantitative proteomics. The selected candidate(s) will further develop and apply this technology in the context of precision oncology.

The research group collaborates closely with clinical scientists to investigate cancer treatment resistance mechanisms to targeted, chemo, or immunotherapies. The ultimate goal is to identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities and enhance patient stratification. The positions offer access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and artificial intelligence-guided computational workflows.
