Postdoctoral Researcher in Behavioral Economics: The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law (MPI-CSL) in Freiburg, Germany, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Behavioral Economics. This position is part of the “MANUNKIND: Determinants and Dynamics of Collaborative Exploitation” research project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC), and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research on exploitative behavior and multidisciplinary studies.

Eligibility/Qualification: Core requirements:
- Ph.D. in economics, psychology, biology, or a related behavioral science (or nearing completion)
- Experience in designing and conducting behavioral experiments with adherence to Open Science standards
- Familiarity with game theory and/or microeconomic modeling
Desirable qualities:
- Proficiency in R and/or Python
- Expertise in applied microeconomics or archival data analysis, geospatial analysis, or agent-based simulation modeling
- Strong interest in behavioral economics and theory-based approaches to human decision-making
- Willingness to enhance statistical and methodological skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Team player with a commitment to Open Science
- Knowledge of German (an asset but not mandatory)
Job Description: The postdoctoral researcher will join the Independent Research Group led by Dr. Dr. Hannes Rusch and will focus on behavioral economic methodologies, including formal modeling, experimental economics, and applied microeconomics. Research topics include discrimination, exploitation, violence, conflict, and the economic analysis of criminal and public law. The researcher will engage in theory-driven and transparent research following Open Science standards.
