Scholarship Description:
Research Assistant (Praedoc) in Biochemistry of Plant-Microbe Interactions
The Research Assistant (Praedoc) position is part of a third-party funded research project focusing on the functions of nuclear pore complexes in nuclear RNA export and plant defense gene expression. The project aims to explore the molecular mechanisms of how nuclear pore proteins regulate gene expression during plant immunity. This project, funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our understanding of plant defense mechanisms.
Eligibility: To be eligible for this position, you must have completed a Master’s degree in biology or biochemistry.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Strong experimental background in molecular plant sciences, biochemistry, cell biology, and/or (molecular) genetics.
- Experience in molecular biology, in vitro tissue culture, gene expression, and RNAseq analyses, including related bioinformatic data processing.
- Knowledge of molecular plant-microbe interactions and experience in handling plant pathogenic microorganisms.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic about the research field.
- Excellent skills in spoken and written English.
- Capability to work independently in a team.
Required Documents: Interested candidates are required to submit a CV along with relevant documents.
How to Apply: Applications should be sent by email, along with significant documents, indicating the reference code, in PDF format (preferably as one document) to Mr. Prof. Dr. Marcel Wiermer at m.wiermer@fu-berlin.de or by postal mail to:
