NUS PhD Studentship Positions: The National University of Singapore (NUS) is offering several PhD Studentship positions in the field of Spintronics with Quantum Materials. These positions, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmet Avsar at the Material Science and Engineering Department, present an exciting opportunity to explore spin-dependent transport phenomena in novel quantum materials. The scholarship package includes a full tuition fee, generous monthly stipends, conference allowances, IT support, and one-time airfare and settling-in allowances.
Summary Table:
Position Type | Award | Application Deadline |
---|---|---|
PhD Studentship | Full tuition fee, monthly stipends, conference allowance, IT support, airfare and settling-in allowances | Rolling basis |
Study Area: The research will be conducted in the Material Science and Engineering Department at the National University of Singapore. The focus of the projects involves the experimental exploration of spin-dependent transport in quantum materials, with the aim of advancing energy-efficient information technologies.
Scholarship Description:
NUS PhD Studentship Positions in Spintronics with Quantum Materials
The available PhD projects will center on the preparation and characterization of next-generation spintronics devices using two-dimensional quantum materials. These materials will be employed to develop energy-efficient information technologies by utilizing spin information carriers, moving beyond conventional electrons. The research includes advanced nanofabrication in state-of-the-art facilities, magneto-transport measurements using low-temperature cryostats, data analysis, result interpretation, and scientific publication.
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold or expect a First Class degree or its international equivalent in materials science, physics, or closely related disciplines.
- Provide GRE scores of 320 (Verbal & Quantitative Total) and 3.5 (Analytical).
- Demonstrate English proficiency with TOEFL-IBT scores of 85 or IELTS scores of 6.0.
- Exhibit enthusiasm for research, independent thinking, strong analytical skills, and effective communication abilities.
- Previous experience in cleanroom processing, 2D heterostructure fabrication, programming, or low-temperature physics is desirable.
Required Documents: Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
- Cover letter
- CV
- Degree transcripts
How to Apply: To apply, please send your cover letter, CV, and degree transcripts to aaaysar(a)nus.edu.se. For more information about the projects and job description, you can contact Dr. Avsar through the following link: Dr. Avsar’s Profile.
Last Date: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Early submission is encouraged to secure your opportunity for this prestigious NUS PhD Studentship in Spintronics with Quantum Materials. Exceptional candidates may also be considered for additional NUS PhD scholarships, including the Dean’s Graduate Fellowship and the President’s Graduate Fellowship.
