Postdoc – Co-cultivation of Sponge Cells and Bacterial Symbionts
The Aquatic Microbial Ecology group of the Laboratory of Microbiology is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher for a European Union-funded research project known as COMBO. The primary objective of COMBO is to develop innovative culturing systems based on the holobiont concept to produce high-added value bioactives derived from seaweeds and sponges.
As a Postdoctoral researcher, your responsibilities include:
- Integrating biological knowledge of sponge cells and symbionts to design co-culture setups.
- Cultivating sponge cells and microorganisms.
- Applying molecular biology methods to identify eukaryotes and prokaryotes and monitor specialized metabolite production.
- Collaborating with industry partners for upscaling growth of sponge cells and/or bacteria.
