SEDarc Doctoral Training Partnership Studentships: The University of Reading is proud to be part of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)-funded South East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc). SEDarc offers PhD studentships in various social science research areas, focusing on innovative doctoral support and broader skills development. The program is consortium-based, involving six leading universities, and encompasses five cross-disciplinary, challenge-led themes in the social sciences.

Job Description:
SEDarc Doctoral Training Partnership studentships offer a 3.5-year duration covering PhD fees and a maintenance stipend at the UKRI rate. Some awards include a further year of funding for a Master’s degree. Successful candidates may undertake a 3-month placement with an associated £1000 travel fund. The scholarship aligns with five cross-disciplinary themes spanning the social sciences.

  1. Apply online for admission to a PhD program at Reading via the RISIS portal.
  2. Complete the online Expression of Interest form.
  3. Prepare a draft SEDarc application.
  4. Complete a SEDarc application form in addition to the standard PhD application via the RISIS portal. Template provided upon contact with academics in the chosen School or Department.

Last Date for Apply:
Application deadline is 12 January 2024. Applicants must have applied to a PhD program at Reading via RISIS and completed a draft SEDarc proposal by this time. Completion of the expression of interest form by early December 2023 is strongly recommended.
