Postdoctoral Fellow in Biodiversity: The University of British Columbia, in collaboration with the Hakai Institute, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position based in Vancouver. The project focuses on the diversity of symbionts as a tool for assessing biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Research Area: Diversity of symbionts, biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem health, climate stressors, microbiome data integration.
Location: Vancouver, University of British Columbia (UBC) campus, with travel within the Salish Sea Region for experimental work.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Experience with biodiversity data analysis, statistical analysis, and modeling in R.
- Proficiency in open data methods.
- Experience in marine ecosystems, fieldwork, and biomolecular data generation is advantageous but not required.
Job Description:
Postdoctoral Fellow in Diversity of Symbionts as a Tool for Assessing Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health
The postdoctoral fellow will:
- Collate datasets from the Hakai network for microbes, animals, and macroalgae.
- Work with Hakai Sentinels research scientists to design sampling strategies for integrating microbiome data into biodiversity monitoring.
- Design and implement experiments to test the impact of climate stressors on host health and symbiont communities.
- Contribute to surface-associated symbiont projects, complementing work led by the Keeling and King labs.
