Postdoctoral Researcher for ERC Project: The High-Energy Physics (HEP) group at the University of Oviedo is seeking a Postdoc to contribute to the ERC Starting Grant project INTREPID. This project aims to enhance trigger capabilities for discovering long-lived particles at the HL-LHC and beyond, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates advanced machine learning techniques and cutting-edge ultra-fast processing platforms.

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in High-Energy Physics or a closely related discipline. Previous experience in trigger systems, pattern recognition algorithms, firmware development, and/or machine learning applications will be considered an asset.
Job Description: The successful candidate will play a key role in the group’s activities related to the muon L1 Trigger upgrade for the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The HEP group is actively involved in phase-2 upgrade work for the L1 trigger and participates in various physics analyses, including searches for long-lived particles, top quark, Higgs, and diboson measurements. Additionally, the group leads phase-2 upgrade efforts for the DT and L1 muon trigger. The position is initially for 4.5 years, starting before March 2024, with the possibility of renewal based on mutual agreement and funding availability.
