PhD position – Nanoscale Imaging: The Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU) is offering a full-time, four-year PhD position in the field of Nanoscale Imaging of Cancer Organoids. The successful candidate will work on the development and optimization of a complete application workflow for 3D visual proteomics using FAST-EM, a state-of-the-art 64-beam scanning electron microscope. PhD position – Nanoscale Imaging of Cancer Organoids
The PhD researcher will be responsible for developing and optimizing a complete application workflow for 3D visual proteomics using FAST-EM. This involves working on cancer organoids, optimizing genetic labelling, immuno-labelling, sample preparation, and large-scale CLEM datasets. The candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including partners from UMCU, TUDelft, UMCG, Delmic, and Technolution.
Your Profile:
- Master’s degree in Biomedicine, Nanobiology, Biophysics, Bioengineering, Physics, or related discipline.
- Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology.
- Strong background in cellular microscopy, imaging, preferably in electron microscopy.
- Prior experience in a research laboratory setting.
- Effortless English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
