ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship: The ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship offers talented students from developing countries a chance to pursue their doctoral degrees in China. Sponsored by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS/UNESCO), this scholarship aims to support scientific capacity building and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Must be a national of eligible developing countries in the South.
  • Applicants must not hold Chinese citizenship.
  • Candidates should possess a Master’s degree (MSc).
  • Must be proficient in English or Chinese.
  • Age limit: Born after January 1, 1991 (inclusive).
  • Must meet the admission criteria for international students of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) or University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS).
  • Applicants currently studying for a doctoral degree in China are not eligible.
  • Cannot apply for ANSO Scholarship at both USTC and UCAS simultaneously.

Job Description

Awardees will receive:

  • Tuition waiver
  • Monthly stipend of CNY 6,000 or CNY 7,000 (depending on qualification test results), for up to 48 months
  • Health insurance
  • Application fee waiver
  • International travel allowance (one trip to China)
  • One-time visa sponsorship

Awardees are required to complete centralized training in Chinese language and culture, practical research, and complete their degree thesis at USTC/UCAS or CAS institutes.

  2. Submit your application through the USTC or UCAS admission system by the deadline.
