Summary

The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw (UW) invites applications for one Assistant position in a group of science positions within the research project “Thermally and Chemically More Stable Stereoselective and Stereoretentive Catalysts for Olefin Metathesis Reactions.” The project is led by Dr hab. inż. Anna Kajetanowicz, Prof. UW and focuses on chemical sciences, particularly organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and olefin metathesis catalysis.

The position is a full-time temporary appointment for 12 months, with an anticipated start in November 2026 and the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will conduct laboratory research, supervise less-experienced team members, present research findings, and contribute to scientific publications.

Eligibility/Qualification

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• PhD in Chemistry, defended no earlier than 7 years before the employment date, or a doctoral thesis close to defense, with the degree obtained no later than the first day of employment.
• Advanced knowledge of organic synthesis and organometallic chemistry.
• Very good command of English (minimum B2 level).
• At least three publications in international scientific journals; publications in top journals are preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a research team.
• Candidates must satisfy the requirements of Article 113 of the Polish Law on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018, as amended.

Job Description / Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Conduct laboratory research related to the project objectives.
• Perform experimental work in organic and organometallic chemistry.
• Participate in the day-to-day organization of laboratory activities.
• Supervise research tasks conducted by less-experienced team members.
• Present and discuss obtained research results.
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific papers and publications.
• Collaborate with other members of the research team.

Salary and Benefits

• PLN 140,000 gross-gross remuneration.
• Full-time temporary employment contract with the University of Warsaw.
• Initial appointment for 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
