Assistant Professor of Computational Chemistry: The School of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham is seeking an outstanding candidate for an Assistant Professor position in Computational Chemistry for Synthesis and Materials. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of research, teaching, and administration activities, and will be expected to demonstrate academic citizenship and support the growing Research Theme of Computational Chemistry.

Assistant Professor of Computational Chemistry for Synthesis & Materials

Designation: Assistant Professor

Research Area: Computational Chemistry, with a focus on the theoretical and computational aspects of areas such as solid-state chemistry, organic or inorganic chemistry, green chemistry, materials, and/or sustainable chemistry.

Location: University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A higher degree relevant to the research/teaching area (usually PhD) or equivalent qualifications
  • Extensive research and/or teaching experience and innovative scholarship within the subject specialism
  • Proven ability to devise, advise on, and manage learning/research
  • Skills in managing, motivating, and mentoring others successfully at all levels

Job Description:

  • Contribute to the management, development, and delivery of teaching and assessment, and to enhancing the student experience and employability
  • Initiate, conduct, and disseminate original research, with measurable outcomes reflected in your growing national and international reputation
  • Contribute to Departmental/School administration and make important contributions to managerial/leadership activities within the University
  • Demonstrate academic citizenship and develop and maintain generous, mutually respectful, and supportive working relationships with all staff and students
