Associate Research Fellow: The School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics at the University of Wollongong seeks an Associate Research Fellow in Computational Statistics. This position is a fixed-term, full-time appointment for two years, offering a competitive salary plus superannuation. The successful candidate will join the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA) and contribute to cutting-edge research in Bayesian computations.

Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants should have a track record of high-quality research in statistical methodology, particularly in Bayesian computations. A PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field is required.

Job Description: The Associate Research Fellow will develop statistical methodology for contemporary challenges in high-dimensional Bayesian statistics. They will work within the initiative “Advanced Computationally Intensive Methods for Bayesian Analysis of High-dimensional Models,” focusing on strategies such as Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Sequential Monte Carlo. Specific applications may include Bayesian learning of neural networks and Bayesian reinforcement learning.
