Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist – Postdoctoral: Embark on an exciting postdoctoral research journey at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Masaryk University, CZ. We are inviting applications for a Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist to contribute significantly to a three-year research project focusing on genome structure and evolution in the genus Boechera (Brassicaceae), led by Dr. Terezie Mandakova and funded by the Czech Science Foundation.

Study Area: The research project focuses on the in-depth analysis of genome structure and evolution in the genus Boechera (Brassicaceae). It provides a unique opportunity to explore links between hybridization, chromosome reorganization, and the evolution of apomixis, utilizing advanced genome sequencing methods and interdisciplinary approaches.

Scholarship Description: The ideal candidate will contribute to groundbreaking research, leveraging expertise in plant genomics, genome sequencing methods, and data analysis. The project aims to uncover the genomic impact of apomixis, providing essential insights into the genome structure and evolutionary dynamics of apomictic Boechera genomes.

Eligibility:

  • PhD in genetics, genomics, molecular biology, mathematical biology, or bioinformatics.
  • Proficiency in genome sequencing methods, including ONT, PacBio HiFi, and Hi-C data analysis.
  • Excellent understanding of plant genome structure and mechanisms of genome evolution.
  • Strong publication record and experience in running individual research projects.
  • Proficiency in English, with exceptional communication and mentoring skills.
