Eligibility/Qualification

  • Candidates of any citizenship, including Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and protected people.
  • Canadian citizens must have previous research/work experience abroad and wish to return to Canada.
  • No current affiliation with a Canadian institution.
  • Must be currently studying or working abroad.
  • Proposed research must align with one of the priority research areas outlined below.
  • Ability to begin the postdoctoral appointment by January 31, 2027 (for SSHRC or NSERC) or March 31, 2027 (for CIHR).

Job Description

The CIRTA Program offers 400 postdoctoral research awards valued at $70,000 per year for up to two years, plus benefits. Awardees will engage in advanced research training, contributing to Canadaโ€™s research ecosystem and building a competitive workforce. Candidates will collaborate with faculty members who are Principal Investigators (PI) on active tri-agency grants.
