CIP Post-doctoral Fellow: The Paris Brain Institute (ICM) is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow for a Collective Interest Project (CIP). This is an exciting opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary, collaborative project focused on improving dopaminergic cell survival and deep-brain stimulation of resilient circuits in Parkinson’s disease. The position is based in the Paris 13th district and offers a 1-year renewable contract starting in October 2024.

Research Area: DBS: From Genetic Mutations to Motor Circuit Dysfunctions & Recovery

Location: Paris 13th district

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in physics, biophysics, mathematics, neuroscience, or engineering
  • Expertise in non-linear dynamics, information theory, and/or computational physics
  • Academic reading, writing, and conversational skills in English (required); French is desired
  • Knowledge in coding using Python, Matlab, Julia
  • Training in non-linear dynamics and statistical mechanics
  • Experience in supervising technicians, students, and/or engineers

Job Description:

  • Analysis of posture data in zebrafish and human patients under different Parkinson’s conditions and therapies
  • Supervision of engineers and graduate students in the SIBBIL and Experimental Neurosurgery teams
  • Development of computational approaches for unsupervised quantification of Parkinsonism from high-resolution movement data
  • Quantification of the role of dopamine on posture and navigation in larval zebrafish and extension of this analysis to human gait dynamics
  • Development of computational frameworks for quantifying behavioral dynamics and analyzing gait cycle stability at different levels of Parkinsonism
  • The position will be held at the Paris Brain Institute

Conditions:

  • Remuneration: 35,000 – 45,000 € (brut annuel)
  • Fixed-term contract (CDD)
  • 10,000 euros available for training

Profile:

  • Knowledge acquired through education in Physics, Neuroscience, Engineering
  • Fluent in English, notions of French
  • Organized, disciplined, proactive, autonomous, excellent team player
  • Rigorous, communicative, curious to understand and broaden her/his field of expertise
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and other postdocs
