Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in Machine Learning, Computational Science, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • First-author or co-author publications in preprints or peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience with advanced phylogenetics and omics data analysis, as well as de novo assembly of chloroplast and mitochondrial genomes from sequencing data is advantageous.
  • Flexibility in the start date is preferred; immediate availability is a plus.

Job Description

As a Computational Biologist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing large language models specifically tailored to chloroplast biology.
  • Designing synthetic chloroplast genomes that adhere to specific design rules.
  • Creating predictive tools for regulatory elements in chloroplasts.
  • Collaborating closely with plant biologists to refine models and develop innovative tools.
  • Mentoring MSc and PhD students and preparing for a future supervisory role.
  • Attending workshops and conferences to present findings and advance professional development.

You will have the opportunity to take initiative and shape the direction of your project within a fully funded research setting for two years, supported by world-class infrastructure and services.
