Eligibility/Qualification
- Must possess a doctoral degree by the date of award activation.
- Conduct research under a sponsor with at least an assistant professor appointment.
- Research must be directly related to immunology or cancer immunology.
- Applicants should not have 5+ years of mentored research experience at the time of award activation (exception for M.D.s).
- Previous residency years should not count towards eligibility.
- Only one fellow per sponsor is permitted each application round.
- There are no citizenship restrictions.
Job Description
The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship provides three years of financial support for hypothesis-driven, mechanistic studies in both fundamental immunology and tumor immunology. The fellowship supports the advancement of understanding the immune system’s role in cancer and assures mentorship and skill development crucial for achieving independence in scientific research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute research projects focused on the immune system’s contributions to cancer.
- Collaborate with mentors and peers to enhance scientific skills and approaches.
- Participate in workshops, conferences, and training opportunities.

- A brief description (500 words) of the applicant’s background and research accomplishments.
- A description (250 words) of targeted knowledge and skill sets to be attained during the fellowship.
- A summary of the proposed research project (500 words).
- Abstract (250 words) in non-technical language.
- Specific aims (500 words).
- A concise research proposal (4 pages) excluding tables, figures, and references.
- Sponsor’s letter detailing their qualifications and the project’s supervision.
- Curriculum vitae/biosketch for both applicant and sponsor.
- Two letters of recommendation, including one from the thesis advisor.
