Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics.
  • Less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (R/Matlab/Julia/C++ are also acceptable).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present research outcomes at national and international conferences.
  • A track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals/conferences or authorship of scientific papers, reports, grant applications, or patents.

Job Description:

CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowship in Fairness Research in Machine Learning (FairML)

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work within the CSIRO Data61 team and collaborate with a group of researchers to conduct cutting-edge research in fairness in machine learning. The project will involve investigating approaches to disentangle and mitigate ML bias in an intersectional context. The fellow will apply these new research techniques to intersectional fairness research and other interdisciplinary areas, such as threatened species management and human-computer interaction. The role will require independent work, programming in relevant languages, and contributing to innovative and impactful research relevant to CSIRO’s strategic goals.
