📍 Location:

  • 12 months at a foreign host institution (outside Germany)
  • 6 months of reintegration at a German university
  • Alternate models like 1+12+5 may be approved under special conditions

âś… Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctorate must be completed before fellowship start (between June–November 2026)
  • At least one peer-reviewed publication
  • Application allowed within six years post-PhD (exceptions for parental/care periods)
  • Must not have stayed or worked in the destination country >12 months in past 3 years
  • Research stay must be outside Germany, with rules for EU/non-EU nationals
  • Must intend to pursue a research career in Germany post-fellowship
  • Must secure host institutions abroad and in Germany before applying

📝 Job Description:

  • Conduct independent research abroad for 12 months in an institution of your choice
  • Reintegration and career development phase for 6 months at a German university
