Doctoral and Postdoctoral Positions in Explainable Machine Learning – Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed University degree (MSc or PhD for PostDoc) with a focus on machine learning, pattern recognition, image/signal processing, applied mathematics, statistics, or comparable.
  • Fluent in established programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Ability to work in a highly analytical, structured, and autonomous fashion.
  • Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of German is helpful.
  • PostDoc applicants should demonstrate a strong track record of published research.

Description: The research group focuses on machine learning methods to improve the interpretability, robustness, and efficiency of neural networks. Research topics include robustness and generalization of neural networks, outlier detection, data-efficient algorithms, self-supervised learning, representation learning, image reconstruction, segmentation, object detection, and medical image analysis. The positions involve supporting research and teaching efforts, conducting independent research, and presenting research results at national and international conferences.
