Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researcher: Join the Research Training Group METEOR, a collaborative initiative between LMU Munich and TUM, focusing on bridging control theory and machine learning. This program aims to train a new generation of scientists equipped with the skills necessary to address modern challenges in artificial intelligence research.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctoral Researcher: Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Postdoctoral Researcher: PhD in related disciplines with a focus on control theory or machine learning.

Job Description:

Candidates will engage in cutting-edge research in two main areas:

  1. Machine Learning for Control Theory (MLโ†’CT): Development of data-driven design for robust and uncertainty-aware controllers in safety-critical dynamical systems.
  2. Control Theory for Machine Learning (CTโ†’ML): Application of control theory principles to improve the robustness of machine learning algorithms against data quality issues and enhance algorithm design.

Research will center on four key themes:

  • Modeling and Quantification of Uncertainty for Robust Control
  • Representation for Dynamical Systems and Control
  • Control Theory for Machine Learning Algorithm Design
  • Formal Analysis of Machine Learning Algorithms via Control Theory
