Doctoral Candidate at UCL Chemistry: The Department of Chemistry at University College London invites applications for a Doctoral Candidate position in the field of ultrafast photoemission spectroscopy. This opportunity is part of the HORIZON-MSCA Doctoral Training Network “LUMIERE,” aimed at advancing the molecular-level understanding of biomimetic switches.
Doctoral Candidate in “Liquid phase Ultrafast photoeMIssion spEctroscopy of biomimetic photoREactions” (LUMIERE) at UCL Chemistry Department
Designation: Doctoral Candidate
Research Area: Liquid phase Ultrafast photoeMIssion spEctroscopy of biomimetic photoREactions
Location: London
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Must hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Physics, Natural Sciences or a related discipline at the start of the post.
- Passion for interdisciplinary research in physical sciences.
- Interest in photochemistry and laser spectroscopy.
- Experience in photochemistry or laser spectroscopy is advantageous but not mandatory.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will undertake research in the Department of Chemistry at UCL, focusing on how the electronic structure and ultrafast dynamics of deprotonated biomimetic switches are influenced by their environment. Using gas-phase and liquid-microjet photoelectron spectroscopy, the research aims to impact bio-imaging tools, novel light-driven molecular devices, and smart drugs triggered by light.
