Eligibility/Qualification
- University degree (Master or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials, Geoscience, or related field.
- Experience in at least two of the following: heterogeneous catalysts, synthesis, mass spectrometry, X-ray scattering, data analysis/scientific programming (Origin Pro, Igor Pro, Python, Labview).
- High motivation for further training and academic qualification (doctorate).
- Independent and goal-oriented working style.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; German is a plus.
Description
The PhD candidate will engage in the synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts and characterization through various techniques including TGA, IR, TEM, MS, and BET. Responsibilities will include implementing a reaction chamber into a laboratory PDF diffractometer, optimizing measurement protocols, and conducting analyses at synchrotron radiation facilities. The candidate will benefit from comprehensive training programs, close supervision, and a collaborative research environment with access to advanced laboratories and facilities. Regular work group meetings, travel to beamtimes, and opportunities to present research at conferences are included.
