CriteriaDetails
Research AreaMulti-Dimensional Ultrafast Visible Light Spectroscopy of Covalent Organic Frameworks
LocationGhent University, Ghent, Belgium
Eligibility/QualificationMaster’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Photonics, or equivalent
Contract DurationLimited duration; initial 12 months, extendable to a total of 48 months upon positive evaluation
Start Date01/06/2025 at the earliest
Fellowship Amount100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances

Research Area

The research will focus on understanding the photo-cycle in COFs, studying effects of optical excitations on these materials, and advancing ultrafast optical spectroscopy techniques, specifically optical pump – visible probe spectroscopy.

Description

The doctoral fellow will conduct experiments to increase the time resolution of ultrafast spectroscopic techniques from approximately 200 fs down to 30 fs using a unique “NOPA” device. The research aims to track electronic excitations within COFs and delve into advanced spectroscopic analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Employ optical pump – visible probe spectroscopy.
  • Study energy relaxation and charge separation processes.
  • Develop and implement 2D spectroscopy methods.
  • Collaborate closely with synthesis teams for comprehensive analysis.

Requirements:

  • Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of teamwork.
  • Experience in ultrafast optical setups and programming in Python is advantageous.

How to Apply

Candidates are required to submit the following documents:

  • CV
  • Copy of your Master’s degree diploma (if available)
  • Motivation letter addressing your suitability for the role

All applications should be sent to Prof. Pieter Geiregat at pieter.geiregat@ugent.be. Note that late applications will not be accepted.

Last Date to Apply
