Position Title: Doctoral Researcher
Position Type: Doctoral candidate (PhD)

Research Area

  • Cancer Biomechanics
  • Drug Efficacy Screening
  • Extracellular Matrix Mechanics

Location

Aalto University, Otaniemi Campus, Espoo, Finland

Eligibility/Qualification

RequirementDetails
Educational BackgroundMaster-level degree in electrical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, or relevant fields.
Experience– Experimental work in biophysics, rheology, soft matter physics, microrobotics.
– Experience in biomedical instrumentation, experimental hardware automation, and programming is beneficial.
PublicationsScientific publications in a relevant area are an advantage.
Language SkillsFluent spoken English required.
Collaborative SkillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively.

Description

The successful candidate will work on microscopy-integrable measurement technologies to study three-dimensional cell culture models of breast cancer. Their role involves developing engineered systems to quantify interactions between migrating cancer cells and the extracellular matrix. Responsibilities also include enhancing spatial and temporal resolution of measurements, integrating data acquisition with fluorescence live-cell microscopy, and contributing to the lab’s microscale studies on chemoresistance.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit the following documents (in English, compiled in a single PDF) via the online recruitment system:

  • Application letter (max. 1 page) detailing background and fit for the Cell-Scale Biomechanics Lab.
  • Curriculum Vitae, including contact details and at least two references.
  • List of publications, if any, with relevant peer-reviewed articles highlighted.
  • Master and Bachelor degree certificates or equivalents, with English translations.
  • Transcript of study records from previous degrees.
  • Electronic copy of Master Thesis (if available).
